Here at Newbury Tools we stock a huge range of equipment for hire.  Please look at our detailed pages for more information of the various items we hire.

We have a network of suppliers that can provide us with the more niche equipment, so if you can’t see what you are looking for, please get in touch, its very likely we can source if for you.

What documents do I need to supply to hire equipment?

You will need to provide your full UK driving licence or passport, along with 2 other forms of id showing your address, for example a utility bill or council tax bill.

 

Do I need to pay a deposit?

In most circumstances a deposit is not required, providing all the id criteria have been met.  If you are from outside the area, or do not have the id required we may ask for a deposit. 

We do require cash customers to complete our payment portal with card details.  These details are securely stored and can then be used for payment at the end of the hire, for damage charges, cleaning charges and for interim payments on longer term hires.

 

Do I need an account?

You do not need an account to hire from us.  We accept cash customers who can provide the necessary id, and card details.

If you are going to be a hiring regularly then you can apply for a account.  Please complete the account application form on the downloads page.  Credit account applications will be subject to normal credit checks.

 

What is a week’s hire?

A week is considered to be a working week, Monday to Friday. We have weekend hire rates and day rates. Details can be found on the item pages or call us for more information.

 

Do you offer weekend rates?

We offer a weekend rate; from 3pm on a Friday until 9am on Monday.  The weekend rates for items are shown on the item details.  This does not apply to Powered Access equipment.

 

Is there a minimum hire period?

The minimum hire period varies according to the equipment.  If you look at the details on the item you are interested in the minimum hire period is in the specification.

 

Can the equipment be delivered?

With a fleet of transport vehicles at our disposal, delivery can sometimes be arranged at short notice. We can offer a quote on delivery based on the machine size and distance it needs to be transported.

 

Do you provide insurance for the equipment?

We do not provide a damage waiver or insurance on our equipment. It is therefore your responsibility to ensure you have the correct insurance. Customers are advised to check they have ‘hired-in’ plant insurance.

 

What happens if the machine is damaged on site?

We don’t usually charge if the machine receives minor scratches, but serious damage such as dents, scratches to rams, panels or other parts would result in a repair bill.

 

What happens if the equipment is stolen while on hire?

As per our Terms and Conditions, the customer is 100% liable if equipment is lost or stolen. We recommend customers make sure they have adequate insurance to cover any damages.

 

What happens if something goes missing?

In the event of anything going missing during the hire period, we will charge for the cost of replacing the missing item/part on a like for like basis at the market rate including any costs for delivery or installation.

 

Do I need to replace the fuel in the machine?

Our machines will be delivered to you full of fuel. Your hire cost does not include fuel unless you specifically ask us to include it. You should return the machine full of fuel. If we have to refuel, we will charge you to refill the tank. Ask us about fuel bowsers for short or long-term hire contracts which will save you time and money.

 

Do I need to clean the equipment before returning?

Please return any equipment clean.  If equipment is returned dirty a cleaning charge would be levied.

 

What if I get a puncture?

We can arrange for a fitter to attend but this cost will be contra charged to you. The cost to repair a puncture starts at around £60 + VAT.

 

How do I arrange an off hire?

To off-hire equipment please visit the shop or call us. Off-hires are only arranged by the staff in the shop or hire office, not the drivers.  Please request an off-hire number.

 

When do you collect the weekend hire equipment?

If you have told us you only want the equipment for the weekend, and it was equipment that we delivered, then it will be collected on Monday.  The equipment remains the customers responsibility until it is collected by us and should be stored securely.

 

When do you collect hire equipment that was not a weekend hire?

We only collect the equipment after you have told us you have finished with it.  Please call us on 01635 30804 promptly to stop the charging.  We endeavor to collect the equipment as soon as possible, although this sometimes can take a few days during busy periods.  The equipment remains the customers responsibility until it is collected by us and should be stored securely.

 

What if the hire goes on for over 14 days?

If the hire is longer than 14 days at the end of a calendar month, then an interim invoice is raised and payment will be taken via the details supplied in the payment portal.

 

What if we need the equipment for longer?

Our hires are open ended, with the exception of weekend hires which are fixed.  We only collect the equipment once you have told us you have finished with it.  We try to collect as soon as practical for us, but this can sometimes be a few days later.  You are not charged from the point you have asked us to collect the equipment, provided that is within our opening hours.

 

How do I cancel, amend, or change my hire?

We understand that things can change.  Please call the hire team to discuss any changes on 01635 30804.

What are your opening times?

We are open from 7.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 12.00pm on Saturdays.

 

Is VAT included in your prices?

No all our prices exclude VAT.  VAT at the standard rate (20%) will be added to the final invoice.
